'Echo' follows the release of the free download track and video for 'Arrival'. The video premiered on The Skinny and the track is available to download for free via the bands SoundCloud page or by clicking on the embed below.

New Cells wrestles with themes of paranoia, armageddon, exploration and the self. No stone in the soul is left unturned. Following their self titled debut album in 2011, the band returned to their sanctuary to regenerate, leaving behind the laptops and broken synths that defined their first release and taking on guitar, bass and drums. They still retain that glorious mix of retro and the modern, pushing instruments to their limits in a haze of reverb and powerful riffs as vocals soar over the music like a demonic choir. This is dark pop at its best, demonstrated to full effect on tracks such as ‘Rise’, the aforementioned dance-floor friendly ‘Echo’, 80s inspired ‘Bathysphere’ and the slow and creeping build of album title-track ‘New Cells’.

Recorded at Tape in Edinburgh, and mastered in New York as part of the recording of New Cells, Arrvial's murky, brooding sound brings to mind comparisons with HEALTH and The Horrors but with stong influence from the dark side of 80's pop and bands like Depeche Mode.

New Cells in out now via Brothers Grimm and available to buy on iTunes. A limited edition colour vinyl will be available in 2016.

Lenin Death Mask release Three Hits EP!

For fans of... Tera Melos, Hella, Don Caballero, Maps & Atlases

The wonderfully named Lenin Death Mask have begun to make a name for themselves lately in the bustling Aberdeen music scene. Known for their raucous, energetic live shows, the band have now taken that energy and transferred it to the studio where they have created a challenging alt-pop three track EP, Three Hits, which is out now via Fitlike Records. You can stream the EP exclusively on Visions.

To celebrate its release the band have decided to offer EP track Kindness as a free download from their Bandcamp page which you can access from the embed below.

Combining elements of punk rock, post-punk, pop and the more challenging, complex technicalities of math-rock, Lenin Death Mask have produced an EP full of head-bopping dynamism that will have you coming back for more and more. Three Hits is impossibly charming with the band able to showcase their enviable ability to produce genre defying music with time changes galore executed with a technical aplomb. Having pulled on a wide range of influences from Hall and Oates to Minutemen, Lenin Death Mask have evolved a sound akin to the bastard child of Tera Melos having a fight with Maps & Atlases officiated by members of Hella. If that doesn’t sound intriguing, you must be dead inside.

The current line-up comprises Craig Scott (guitar/bass/vocals), Tom Gilbert (guitar/bass/vocals), Peter Taylor (guitar/vocals) and Thomas Emslie (drums) having originally been formed by Craig and Grant Pirie in 2012 with the aim of producing music that wasn’t bound by set formulas. This certainly shines through as joyful, uplifting music is juxtaposed by lyrical content that, at times, can be emotionally charged.

The EP was recorded by Phil Booth at JT Soar in Nottingham and was mixed by Joe Caithness of Subsequent Mastering. With the release on the horizon, the band will be setting up for a busy end to the year as they embark on a UK wide tour from with Amy Grindhouse from 20th November and make their first festival appearance when they take to the stage at Book Yer Ane Fest which is hosted by Make-That-A-Take Records in Dundee at the end of this year.

Nov 20th - Aberdeen - Upstairs at The Blue Lamp*
Nov 21st - Glasgow - 13th Note (Repeater Fest)*
Nov 22d - Edinburgh - Sneaky Pete's*
Nov 23rd - Leicester - The Exchange (supporting Steve Strong)*
Nov 24th - Nottingham - JT Soar*
Nov 25th - Bristol - Mother's Ruin*
Nov 26th - London - Brixton Windmill*
Nov 28th - Newport - Le Pub*

Me and My Drummer return with track Blue Splinter View!

For fans of... Florence + The Machine, Bat For Lashes, Jessie Ware

"...hauntingly gorgeous..." - DIY

"...an immaculate construction that feels altogether heartfelt." - The Line of Best Fit

Me and My Drummer have returned after 3 years to bring us their fantastic new track Blue Splinter View, which is available now via Sinnbus. This is the first track released from their second album, Love is a Fridge out February 12th 2016.

Blue Splinter View premiered on The Line of Best Fit and is available to stream now on Spotify.

Blue Splinter View is one of the more introspective tracks on Love Is a Fridge. The song meanders through an Americana drenched verse, Charlotte Brandi's voice coming over almost as if she is singing a lullaby as a tambourine keeps the beat in the background. The strings that enter in the bridge hint at an impending change, however the power of the chorus, with it's choral, passionate vocals still knocks you back with it's power. In her own words Charlotte says it's
"about spinning on your own axis in space", the lyrics eluding to the complex feelings we are confronted with during a break up, where the former partners remain close.

New album Love is a Fridge is ten perfect tracks nothing short of an electropop masterpiece as Matze Pröllochs and Brandi traverse a wide and varied soundscape. Her vocals are stronger than ever, enough to match the soulful electropop tones of Florence Welch or Jessie Ware. An album that musically covers a huge range of styles and ideas maintaining its bold feel and flavour for experimentation all the way through. If you imagine Bat For Lashes meets La Roux you’re close but there’s something somewhat celestial about Me And My Drummer that sets them apart

Blue Splinter View is out now and available on iTunes with Love is a Fridge slated for release on February 12th 2016 via Sinnbus.

We Are The City release album ‘Above Club’!

For fans of: Grizzly Bear, The Flaming Lips, Deerhoof

"...a band for the long haul." - Drowned in Sound

"...billowing, headily inventive music…" - Clash

"Crashing Mew-esque guitars boom behind rampaging drums..." - The Line of Best Fit

We Are The City are delighted to announce the release of their brilliant new album Above Club, available to buy now on iTunes via Sinnbus.

To celebrate the release, the band have revealed their fabulous new single Kiss Me, Honey. The video premiered on Pure Volume and is available to watch on the band’s YouTube page or via the embed below.

The single stream premiered exclusively on The Line of Best Fit and you can listen to it now from the band's Soundcloud page or by clicking on the embed below.

Kiss Me, Honey is the second track to be aired from the album, an album that was created during a mammoth recording session that saw the band literally lock themselves in the studio to eat, sleep and write their new material under the watchful gaze of a 24hr livefeed streamed directly from their website. This not only saw the band produce an outstanding album but they even had the time to record an eye-catching video for the single.

Kiss Me, Honey and previous video and single
Keep On Dancing captures the impulsive and experimental approach the band took to recording the new album, combining Cayne McKenzie's floating falsetto vocals, David Menzel’s crashing guitars and Andrew Huculiak's relentless drumming, as the band sonically reach new, unimaginable heights.

The album follows hot on the heels of the international release of their acclaimed sophomore LP, Violent, and its corresponding feature full-length film, which was written by the band, and filmed in Norway by Amazing Factory Productions. The film has garnered critical acclaim during its appearances on the film festival circuit over the past year, receiving a Perspective Canada Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, screenings at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (world premiere), San Sebastían International Film Festival, Los Cabos Film Festival, as well as winning Best Canadian Film and Best BC Film at Vancouver International Film Festival.

Above Club is out now via Sinnbus and is available to buy on iTunes.
