Out next week: Stylusboy & Pose Victorious

This week we had releases from Architects of Grace, Gunning For Tamar and Wayter. It's been a busy one and we had everyone from Drowned in Sound (giving Wayter's album Feeding Time a respectable 7/10) to Rock Sound (loving Gunning for Tamar's EP Deaf Cow Motel, a brilliant 8/10) shouting out about our bands.

After the flurry of these releases, we're already looking forward and gearing up for two lovely EPs being released by acoustic indie folkster Stylusboy and Scots boys Pose Victorious. We're giving away a free MP3 from both of these bands ahead of their EP releases next week.

Stylusboy - Whole Picture EP

Stylusboy is the acoustic creation of Steve Jones, a Coventry bred guitarist and vocalist. He cut his teeth playing guitar and bass for a number of bands, and gigging extensively before finally stripping down his sound, and venturing into the wilderness to produce his own personal blend of lo-fi alternative folk.

He's about to release his 6-track EP, Whole Picture, on Lazy Acre Records, June 6th 2011.
It showcases Steve's laid back vocals and guitar style beautifully, with stripped down production and expertly crafted lyrics that speak to the soul.

Pose Victorious - Beneath The Lighthouse EP

Beneath The Lighthouse is the second EP from Pose Victorious, and is due to be released on June 6th 2011. It sees the band returning to the roots of rock and roll craftsmanship. The band, formed in Scotland in 2009, is comprised of former roommates Ross Millar (vocals), Jack Rowberry (lead guitar), Gordon Barclay (rhythm guitar), Gavin White (drums) and Jordan Laird (bass).

Each song on this EP creates a self-contained story, with opening track "Off The Rails" taking the listener on a foot stomping journey through the ennui of the live fast/die young lifestyle, and the isolation that comes with it. "Run To Sea" captures the flush of first love, while "High As The Sky" is an outlaw love story hearkening back to tales from the old west. "Autumn Leaves" allows the boys to slow things down and show off their talent at manipulating melody before closing track, "Try Harder", grabs you by the hand and walks you through a night on the town with the lads, hipflask in pocket, sneaking drinks at the back of the pub.
