The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing announce ‘Not Your Typical Victorians’ album!

“…thrashingly loud and coruscatingly funny.”
- The Guardian

“Leading lights of the steampunk scene…” - NME

For fans of: Tom Waits, The Cure, Minor Threat, Emperor

The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing have been kicking back against the modern dystopia by mixing anarchy and anachrony and marinating it in gin-soaked steampunk, with emphasis on the punk. Their third album Not Your Typical Victorians almost didn’t happen when, in 2014, frontman Andy Heintz was diagnosed with throat cancer. Now in remission, they are ready to unleash their unique and uncompromising sound unto the punk rock loving masses.

You can listen to album title track 'Not Your Typical Victorian' on the band's SoundCloud page. Pre-order the album on BandCamp to download the track for free.

Imagine, if you will, a socially conscious punk band channelling the sound of a robot Sid Vicious, hopped up on Crass, covering Slayer in an 1877 East End Music Hall: a murky mix of Doctor Who, Doctor Watson and doctored history. TMTWNBBFN spout socially conscious lyrics focussed on the nineteenth century that remain remarkably applicable today, with previous double a-side single The Gin Song / Third Class Coffin along with album tracks ‘A Clean Sweep’ and ‘Miner’ strangely poignant in this new age of austerity.

Formed of Andy Heintz (vocals and musical saw), comedian Andrew O’Neill (guitar and vocals), comedian and writer Marc Burrows (bass and vocals), and Jez Miller (drums and vocals), the London four piece’s obsession with murky Victoriana and a flair for writing satirical songs that lose none of their punk edge has seen them grace the stages of Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Bestival, Green Man, Latitude and the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as sold out shows at London’s Borderline and The Garage.

The band count Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Robert Rankin and Phil Jupitus as fans and their 2012 release The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing Cannot Be Killed By Conventional Weapons had The Independent On Sunday’s Simon Price giving it a well deserved 4 star review noting it was “packed with droll Victoriana - 1877-meets-1977 fun”.

Not Your Typical Victorians is released via Leather Apron on 16th October 2015. You can pre-order the album on BandCamp.

James Mackenzie has released his latest EP Winter via Tornface Music. It's available to buy digitally on BandCamp.

James deals in heartfelt lyrics and sumptuous guitar melodies. On Winter he has chosen to take listeners on a journey through some of the most private moments of his life, opening up his heart for all to see and casting a probing eye on past failed relationships, and how they helped form the man that he is today. To celebrate the release of 'Winter', James is giving away EP track
'It's All Good'. You can download it for free via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

You can also download 'Maybe' for free via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

With Influences ranging from Neil Young to Charlie Simpson, along with a long-lasting love affair with heavy metal, James’ sound undulates between the accessibility of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and the passion of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, landing somewhere in the middle to create something truly unique. He’s already received support from the likes of BBC Introducing’s Ally McCrae as well as XFM’s Jim Gellatly and The Daily Record, and has supported Midge Ure, Idlewild’s Roddy Woomble and played the main stage at festivals such as Belladrum, Tartan Heart and Rockness.

Goldie Thorn announce EP ‘Canal Life’!

For fans of: Hot Chip, Washed Out, LCD Soundsystem

Goldie Thorn would like to take you on a journey through the backstreets of East London, along canal pathways in the first blush of morning, where people stumble home past bicycle messengers delivering bread to early morning cafes, the bass still resonating in their ears from the night’s clubbing.

EP Canal Life captures the pulse of the city, utilising found sounds and cheeky samples to create a subdued but energetic musical portrait of London. Chameleonic in nature, these tunes are just as effective blasted out of PA speakers at a packed warehouse dance floor, or back at home surrounded by friends at the afterparty, when you just don’t want the night to end.

To celebrate the announcement of Canal Life, Goldie Thorn have released a video for EP track 'Chrome Night'. You can watch it now via the band's YouTube channel.

Reverend Thorn (synths & production) and Gold & Chain (vocals & drums) began their journey in Australia, two musicians thrown together by a shared love of Giorgio Moroder, LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip. They joined forces and moved to the UK to spread their message, the message in this case being a collection of electronically infused tunes designed to get you to stand up and pay attention.

Previous single Down Town Time was a blend of sparse 80s synth with a modern edge. With their forthcoming EP Canal Life Goldie Thorn have captured the sound of a city that is always in motion, and have found delicate beauty in its darker corners. Now they’re ready to share it with you.

Canal Life is released via Dreamtime Records on 25th September 2015. A bonus fourth track, ‘Chrome Night (Faze Action remix)’, will be available for those who buy the EP digitally.

Ex Libras announce EP ‘Woe’!

“...beautiful...” - The Line Of Best Fit

“...refreshing...” - DIY

“...Exhilarating...” - The 405

For fans of: The xx, Mew, Grandbrothers

After their explosive debut album Suite(s) and follow up EP Cut(s), Ex Libras knew that their next project would need to be extraordinary.

The band stepped away from the spotlight, launching themselves into an intense period of creativity. Locked away in their elusive HQ, the SHED, Ex Libras began to play with their sound, planting new creative seeds, nurturing these ideas and slowly but surely new melodies, riffs and beats emerged and entwined like curious, skyward bound branches from Ex Libras’s visionary roots, blossoming into four perfectly formed tracks. The result is their forthcoming EP Woe.

To celebrate the announcement of Woe, Ex Libras have released a lyric video to the EP title track. You can watch it now via the band's YouTube channel.

Amit Sharma (Guitar / Vocals), Kieran Nagi (Keyboards / Bass) and Ross Kenning (Drums) make their return having honed their sound, which is sharper, more focussed and stronger than before. Four tracks hand picked from their private stash and mixed by Alan Moulder (Slaves, Royal Blood, Nine Inch Nails) to announce to their followers that they are back, and that there is more to come.

Opening track ‘Woe’ is an explosive return to form, the trio creating an almost overwhelming wall of distortion before morphing into an ethereal chorus, all the while Amit’s vocals fluctuating between war cry and lullaby. ‘Leap Of Faith’ and ‘Drive’ showcase Ex Libras’ keen ear for detailed arrangement, with keys, drums and guitar creating intricate counterpoints while Amit’s vocals soar over the top, channeling the likes of Foals and Radiohead, but with a more delicate touch and channelling the electro-classical tones of the Grandbrothers. Fans will recognise EP closer ‘Underachiever’ from the band’s debut album, yet this newly recorded version is stronger, with greater depth and an intense energy.

Ex Libras’ return will be welcome news for the likes of Clash, Q, DIY, The 405, The Line of Best Fit, Drowned in Sound, Prog Magazine, BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson, XFM’s John Kennedy and Amazing Radio, who were among the band’s early supporters.

Woe is released via Wirebird Records on 16th October 2015.
