- Artrocker
Copper Lungs are delighted to announce their free download single Cloud Nine, out now via Thin Hippo Records.
The single premiered on Artrocker and you can now stream and download it for free via the ABoF SoundCloud page.
The band, who consist of Darren Lindsay (guitar/vocals), John Cargill (guitar, vocals), Jamie Mayes (bass, keys) and Euan Ross (drums), have been quick to produce another uplifting track on the back of what has been an extremely successful year so far. Having released their self-titled EP in April to a flurry of support from the likes of BBC Introducing, STV, Rock Sound Magazine, Bring The Noise and Artrocker, Copper Lungs embarked on a busy summer period with appearances at GoNorth, the BBC Academy at the QMU in Glasgow, T in the Park and WIckerman Festival.
Cloud Nine sees the band continue where they left off on their self-titled EP by producing stirring, harmony laden pop-rock tunes that has seen them draw favourable comparisons to the likes of Two Door Cinema Club and Twin Atlantic. Emotive lyrics are further enhanced by up-tempo guitar solos, a beat that will have you shaking your hips and a big, bold chorus expertly delivered by lead vocalist Darren Lindsay.
To support the release Copper Lungs will be playing #LiveWednesdays at the Hard Rock Cafe in Glasgow on 12th November in association with XFM Scotland before they co-headline with Our Future Glory at Buskers Dundee on 15th November.

- Artrocker

Do You Feel Alive is full of youthful hope and promise, opening with chiming guitars that lead into a catchy chorus akin to Blink 182’s early days and breakdowns that Biffy Clyro would be proud of. However, there’s a strong hint of mid 90s American indie rock. The track itself is about reaching a crossroads, letting go of the past and moving forward - a sentiment that is reflected perfectly in the music, with the single coloured with a tinge of melancholy but also hope.
With another single and EP in the works, Do You Feel Alive is only just the start for a band who looking to leave their mark on the Scottish music scene.

Introducing… Goldie Thorn!

Electro duo Goldie Thorn release their hypnotic 80s synth inspired single Down Town Time on 27th October 2014 via Cabana Records.
The video for the single premiered on Artrocker and you can now watch it via Goldie Thorn's YouTube channel.
Down Town Time is taken from their forthcoming EP Canal Life. The track blends sparse 80s synth with a modern edge. Although their influences range from Grace Jones to The Avalanches, the single feels more like Hot Chip meets LCD Soundsystem.
“Down Town Time was written as a bit of a reflection of being a semi desert county boy moving to the big smoke, and remembering the endless space and time down under,” explains Reverend Thorn. Both he and Gold & Chain met two years ago in their native Australia before heading over to London. They had spent over ten years playing in various bands before becoming both romantically and musically involved.
With the move, Goldie Thorn was born and after a number of video and single releases, the band are ready to cement their name on the scene with Down Town Time and the release of their Canal Life EP shortly after.
The single arrives just in time as we look forward to 2015. Goldie Thorn have the potential to be one of the most intriguing electro duos on the London scene, with Down Town Time a mere taster of what’s to come.
Miss Kenichi’s album ‘The Trail’ out November 24th!

With Miss Kenichi's album The Trail out on November 24th via Berlin label Sinnbus, the lady herself - Katrin Hahner - recently chatted to German TV channel DW about her chronic stage fright, her paintings, contribution to the recent soundtrack for German film 'Freier Fall' and Tindersticks drummer Earl Harvin's involvement with the album. Katrin also talks about The Trail's themes of nature and self discovery.
You can watch the full video HERE.

You can also watch the video for album track and single Who Are You on the Sinnbus YouTube channel.
Opening with ‘Tale Of Two Rivers’, the track is boldly quiet, it’s her statement of intent for The Trail. “I want things to have meaning…” Katrin says. She’s intrigued by stories and messages that “last longer than a summer.” You can hear this resonate through every track with Katrin’s delicate vocals floating over the dreamlike sound she’s created on this third album. Single ‘Who Are You’ is perhaps the darkest track but also the album’s standout as we reach the halfway point of Katrin’s musical pilgrimage into the ancient and unknown.
Dark like the woods, but with shafts of light piercing through the trees, The Trail is a record that initially seems full of shadows and gloom, but whose beauty lends it a vital optimism. Leaning lyrically upon the nature amid which she grew up, with frequent references to mountains, rivers, storms and skies scattered throughout, The Trail is full of songs that outgrow their origins, thriving and blossoming as they develop. With The Trail, Miss Kenichi has created an album that is boundlessly immersive, full of wisdom, grace and wonder.
The Trail is released 24th November via Sinnbus/Rough Trade.
Le Very release video for ‘Playground’!

Le Very have released the video for 'Playground', the title track taken from their debut EP of the same name released on 3rd November 2014 via Zukunftmusik.
The video premiered on Gigwise and you can now watch it on Le Very's YouTube channel or via the embed below.
You can also stream the track from Le Very's SoundCloud page or via the embed below.
With Playground, Le Very play with familiar stereotypes and pop-cultural references only to jump off at the last moment, turn a sharp corner, and take their sound in a totally unexpected direction.
Their first single, the dynamic EP title track, combines a stoic industrial beat with minimalistic stabs of guitar and an all-embracing polyphonic refrain. On the other end of the spectrum, the cynical peer-pressure hymn 'Marching On' morphs effortlessly from haunting jazz to a euphoric high-life choir, culminating in a striking saxophone solo. In the middle of it all, the orchestral theatrics of 'The Dive', featuring a remix kicked in by Brandt Brauer Frick, draws from roots-rock technonism, showcasing just how multi-faceted Le Very's sound can be.
Playground incites a style war, which is not about right or wrong, but about love and hate and everything in between, and about just how far the concept of pop music can be pushed in the year 2014.
Playground is released on 3rd November 2014 via Zukunftmusik.
