Introducing… Talons!

Talons

Hereford boys Talons release their debut album Hollow Realm on Big Scary Monsters, December 6th 2010. The album was produced by former iForward Russia! frontman Tom Woodhead and comprises of eight brand new songs, written as a single piece of music.

Forging the explosive energy of hardcore, the subtleties of post-rock and the fractured song structures and complexities associated with math-rock, Talons possess a fascinating sense of urgency and drive, with a sound that both soothes and savages in equal measure.

Hollow Realm is a beautifully harrowing instrumental rock infusion. Tracks like "St. Mary Will Be The Death of Us All| and "Peter Pan" are surging math-rock masterpieces whilst at ten-minutes long "Hollow Depth" delves into the heavier end of prog with hectic strings and lightning fast, complex riffs that will induce tears of joy!

The boys released debut single The Pearl in August 2009 to great reception from printed press to influential blogs. They followed this with two very limited edition split singles of 100 copies each. The first, Bethlehem (a split with Irish rockers And So I Watch You From Afar), was released in December 2009 and sold out on pre-order alone, whilst the second, Anthropods, was a split with Chicago based noisemakers Noumenon, and disappeared just as quickly.

With new band features already in the likes of Rock Sound and Q Magazine, the band are about to embark upon a UK tour in November to support the release of Hollow Realm and prepare themselves for the warm embrace of the music press. They are a band who crossover into many genres, never limiting their horizons. Whether you’re a prog, metal or rock fan or simply just into music that will “blow your head off”, then look no further than Talons!

Brilliant Moneytree Reviews/EP Out Today!

Moneytree have had a busy old month, with their successful UK tour going down a treat in towns all over the country and the release of their EP The Great Indoors Part III. The seven track EP has been really well received by the music fraternity with the likes of Rock Sound (8/10), Room Thirteen (9/13), The 405 (9/10) and Contactmusic.com all giving the record quite brilliant reviews.

The latest outstanding reviews come from the websites Love Shack Baby and Alter The Press.

First up Love Shack Baby had this to say:

"For what I hear on this EP is certainly not tame, not what most casual listeners would choose to put on their workout mixtapes. But it’s interesting, and captivating to anyone who listens to music intently and appreciates those twisty, unexpected paths." - Love Shack Baby

You can read the full article HERE.

Alter The Press continued the critical acclaim by giving the EP a storming 4/5!

" ‘The Great Indoors: Part III’ is a slow burn. It’s a nuanced, emotive, creative; alt rock at its best. It’s heavily percussion led in parts but balances out with a consistent guitar sound and a whole host of other instruments that both blend in and stand out at the same time. Moneytree combine a variety of genres to create something original but familiar feeling and really show off what they’re capable of." - Alter The Press

The EP is available to buy now and can be purchased form iTunes and from the Sotones Records website.

New service lets listeners chat to Amazing Radio

Amazing Radio have just launched their new interactive answer phone service that not only lets you have your say, but might just let you hear your voice on air during one of their shows.

It's all very simple - you just have to phone them up on 0191 60 30 795 and leave a message after the beep. Now, you can chat to them about whatever you want, but to keep things running smoothly, Amazing Radio have made a couple of suggestions as to what you might want to tell them about when you ring up.

Why not. . .

  • -Request a song from amazingtunes.com.

  • -Review a gig you've been to recently.

  • -Let them know about a new band that they should check out.

  • -Tell them your 'Four Tops' playlist - your four favourite amazingtunes.com tracks.

  • -Tell them your favourite three artists so they can Matchmake you with a new artist that you can brag about to your friends.

  • -Leave a message for one of their Amazing presenters or ask them a question.

  • -Make your suggestions for Amazing Radio.

  • We're sure it's going to be a hit, but we've been racking our brains all morning trying to work out what we should request. Perhaps we should give their Matchmake service a go to see if that's any help?

The Unkindness of Ravens kicked 2010 off to a brilliant start releasing two brilliant singles - Dead Air (warning contains strobe effects) and White Road. Ravens' Nina and Ben have been very busy since then and have spent the summer recording and planning a short UK tour.

The result of all their hard work is their fantastic debut EP I Used To Be So Pretty, which is out November 29th 2010 via Sonic Fire Records. Their innovative sound has already been picked-up by the press with publications like Clash and Artrocker beginning to feature the band heavily in print and online. XFM's John Kennedy and BBC 6 Music's Tom Robinson are also fans.
